I need help with a Grave Marker 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago

I am new here but will be working with 41st OVI information. My 3rd great grandfather was Sgt George Wheaton Hodges. He served with Co G of the 41st from 1861-1865. George died August 27, 1918 In Chagrin Falls, Ohio at the age of 91. He apparently was the oldest person serving in Co G during the war.The problem is that the cemetery where he his obituary says he is buried says he isn't and the funeral home has no records going back that far so George is basically lost somewhere. I believe he is in Evergreen Hills Cem. but as long as they say he isn't he can never get a stone there. I would like to have a memorial marker placed in the closest Veterans Cemetery to Chagrin Falls. I understand that it is free but that there must be someone there to receive it on behalf of the family. I would love to be there but also hope that maybe some of the re-enactors from the 41st might also want to be there. Every Veterans day and Memorial Day I feel terrible because he doesn't have a flag on his grave. I have read his letters he sent home from the war from 1861-65 and I feel like I knew him the way I knew my grandparents and I also know what he went through while he was serving. I am proud of him and want to see him honored the way he deserves to be.Does anyone have suggestions about this for me? I am working on getting the paperwork together now.
Thanks,
Laurie Gilman
