HistoricalPreservation.org's 'History Network' is yet another tool in our public history, preservation and research arsenal. The network was designed and built by project founder Brett Mitchell with the social networking principles of MySpace and FaceBook in mind. Thus, the entire network is built and created by members and users from all over the world. The end goal of each network is to create a user built archive. To date, OhioCivilWar.org, our first history network has become a prime example of this concepts success. Scroll to the bottom half of this page to view the network's portal.
The Ohio Civil War Archive and Network is the largest and only user built civil war archive in existence!
Historical Preservation.org's idea of creating a user/social network to create archives is paying dividends and the proof is in the pudding. The network is uncovering scores of images and documents daily that would otherwise be lost to history and is our largest growing network.
Take a look at the Ohio in The Civil War Archive and participate. You don't even have to have a collection to share. The Ohio In The Civil War Network is the first in a series which will include all the states (1861-1865). The next site release will feature Tennessee and Pennsylvania Civil War Networks.
